Pay-It-Forward (PIF) Mentorship Programme Closing Ceremony 2024

The Pay-It-Forward (PIF) Mentorship Programme 2024 concluded with a memorable Closing Ceremony on 11 January 2025. Centered around the theme of self-understanding, the event featured an empowering Enneagram workshop led by Natalie Eng from Neverdrift, along with personal reflections and heartfelt sharings from participants on their mentorship journeys.

Enneagram Personality Workshop by Neverdrift

Natalie provided an in-depth exploration of the nine Enneagram types, focusing on their core motivations, fears, and perspectives. Through her insights, both mentors and mentees gained a deeper understanding of their own behaviors and those of others. She emphasized that no Enneagram type is inherently better or worse; rather, each type comes with unique strengths and challenges. Encouraging attendees to embrace diverse perspectives, she highlighted how differing life experiences shape our views and interactions.

The session also addressed the importance of stress regulation and self-awareness. Participants were introduced to a breathing technique designed to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps manage stress by elongating the exhale. This simple yet powerful method provides a practical tool for calming the body and mind in moments of tension.

Mentorship Journey Reflections and Sharings

Following the workshop, mentors and mentees came together for a meaningful letter-writing activity, where they reflected on their journeys and exchanged notes of appreciation. To commemorate the connections formed, each mentor-mentee pair had the opportunity to take Polaroid photos together, capturing the relationships and lasting memories forged through the programme.

To officially close this cycle, both mentors and mentees shared their mentorship experiences and key takeaways. One mentee, Nasha, spoke about gaining confidence in her ability to shape her own path, realizing that her future is not fixed but created through her choices. In 2025, she is committed to continuing her journey of self-discovery, integrating the lessons she has learned.

Another mentee, Anastasia, expressed gratitude for the strong bond she developed with her mentor and her intention to maintain the relationship as an ongoing source of support in her career. Similarly, mentee Moe Yin shared how her mentor, Nyx, encouraged her to reflect on what truly matters in life beyond professional ambition, offering deep, thought-provoking conversations that left a lasting impact.

Our mentors also shared their personal growth through this experience and left words of encouragement for the mentees. Mentor Chin Hwee reflected on the value of vulnerability, recognizing that each mentee brings a unique perspective, and that mentorship is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Another mentor, Denise, encouraged mentees to consider becoming mentors themselves, highlighting the transformative power of mentorship and the opportunity for mutual learning.

Building Connections and Paying It Forward

This year’s programme was an enriching journey for all participants, fostering meaningful connections and personal growth. We hope that the relationships and insights gained will continue to inspire both mentors and mentees in their careers and life decisions. As the cycle of mentorship evolves, we look forward to seeing today’s mentees grow into tomorrow’s mentors—truly paying it forward!
